Abstract

Drawing on Piaget’s concepts of intellectual autonomy and critical thinking, this editorial reflects on the complexity of managing shoulder instability and challenges oversimplified approaches based on single solutions. Current evidence indicates that hereditary predisposition plays a significant role in the development and recurrence of shoulder instability, although it is not the sole determinant. Genetic, anatomical, and functional factors interact with trauma and sports participation. The future challenge lies in identifying high-risk patients and personalizing treatment decisions beyond the selection of a specific surgical technique.
