RELART, Latin American Journal of Arthroscopy, Joint Reconstruction and Sports Trauma (ISSN 3072-8010), is the official publication of the Latin American Society of Arthroscopy, Joint Reconstruction and Sports Traumatology (SLARD), Argentine Association of Arthroscopy (AAA), Argentine Association for the Study of the Hip and Knee (ACARO),Argentine Association of Sports Traumatology (AATD),Mexican Association of Reconstructive Joint Surgery and Arthroscopy (AMECRA).

It is a quarterly publication, issued in April, August, and December, available online under an open access model and published in Spanish.
The journal publishes original articles, systematic reviews, clinical case reports, letters to the editor, and editorials. All articles are evaluated through an external double-blind peer review process, ensuring the scientific quality and objectivity of the content (review process).

RELART does not charge article processing charges (APCs), nor submission, evaluation, or publication fees to authors.

As of 2025, RELART continues the editorial trajectory of the journal Artroscopia (ISSN 1853-4759). Issues published under the previous title correspond to the earlier editorial stage and retain their original title and ISSN.

Mission, focus, and scope

RELART’s mission is to promote scientific research in arthroscopy, reconstructive joint surgery, and sports traumatology, contributing to the dissemination of up-to-date knowledge among healthcare professionals, researchers, and specialists in these fields.

The journal adopts an international approach, fostering academic collaboration and knowledge exchange among researchers, surgeons, and clinicians from different countries.

Its scope includes clinical and experimental studies, literature reviews, technical developments, and analyses of relevant cases in the fields of arthroscopy, reconstructive joint surgery, and sports traumatology.

Journal history and continuity

RELART (ISSN 3072-8010) is the continuation of a previous publication that, until 2024 inclusive, was published under a different title and ISSN: Revista Argentina de Artroscopía (ISSN 1851-2828).

As of 2025, the journal adopts its current title, RELART – Latin American Journal of Arthroscopy, Joint Reconstruction and Sports Trauma, together with a new duly registered ISSN.

Issues published under the previous title correspond to the journal’s earlier editorial stage and retain their original title and ISSN. These contents remain available in the archive as part of the publication’s historical collection.

Articles published after the change of title and ISSN belong to RELART’s current editorial stage and are identified exclusively with its current ISSN.

Funding

RELART, Latin American Journal of Arthroscopy, Joint Reconstruction and Sports Trauma, is published thanks to the support and commitment of the associations that make up its structure, including the Latin American Society of Arthroscopy, Joint Reconstruction and Sports Traumatology (SLARD), Argentine Association of Arthroscopy (AAA), the Argentine Association for the Study of the Hip and Knee (ACARO), the Argentine Association of Sports Traumatology (AATD), and the Mexican Association of Reconstructive Joint Surgery and Arthroscopy (AMECRA).

Funding is used to guarantee the quality and accessibility of the content without generating costs for authors or readers, thereby supporting open access to science.

Editorial structure and responsibilities

The journal has an organizational structure designed to ensure scientific quality, transparency in editorial processes, and compliance with international standards for scholarly publishing. The roles, bodies, and functions involved in its editorial management are detailed below:

Editor-in-Chief

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the scientific and editorial leadership of the journal, with full independence in editorial decision-making, free from institutional or commercial interference. Responsibilities include:

  • Defining editorial, ethical, and open access policies.
  • Making final decisions on manuscripts, based exclusively on academic criteria.
  • Ensuring the integrity of the peer review process.
  • Overseeing compliance with indexing standards and editorial quality criteria.
  • Safeguarding transparency and traceability throughout the editorial process.

Associate Editors

Associate Editors are responsible for the editorial management of manuscripts according to disciplinary expertise. Their responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the external peer review process.
  • Selecting reviewers while ensuring suitability, institutional diversity, and the absence of conflicts of interest.
  • Issuing well-founded editorial recommendations.
  • Ensuring compliance with timelines and the quality of the editorial process.

Associate Editor and Multimedia Coordinator

This role integrates the editorial dimension with strategies for visibility and digital scientific communication. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing supplementary content and multimedia formats.
  • Promoting the dissemination of articles through academic networks and digital platforms.
  • Contributing to the visibility, accessibility, and impact of the published scientific output.

Methodological Advisor

The Methodological Advisor provides specialized technical support in research. Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating methodological and statistical aspects at specific editorial stages.
  • Advising the editorial team and reviewers when necessary.
  • Contributing to the scientific rigor of published works.

Advisory Board

The Advisory Board is a consultative collegiate body composed mostly of specialists external to the publishing entity. Its responsibilities include:

  • Advising on the definition of editorial policies and thematic lines.
  • Contributing to the journal’s internationalization and institutional diversity.
  • Strengthening the academic legitimacy of the editorial project.

External Reviewers

External Reviewers are part of the journal’s peer review system. They act independently from the editorial team. Their responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating manuscripts according to criteria of quality, originality, and relevance.
  • Issuing well-founded reports to guide editorial decisions.
  • Respecting principles of confidentiality, impartiality, and ethics.
  • Declaring conflicts of interest when applicable.

Editorial Office

The Editorial Office is responsible for the operational management of the editorial workflow. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the editorial process in the OJS platform, ensuring its traceability.
  • Verifying compliance with author guidelines and formal requirements.
  • Managing communication among authors, reviewers, and editors.
  • Coordinating editorial planning and the publication of issues.

Professional Copyediting

This role is responsible for the linguistic review of accepted texts. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the formal quality, clarity, and coherence of articles.
  • Adapting texts to the journal’s style guidelines.

Bibliographic Review and Correction

This role is responsible for checking references. Responsibilities include:

  • Verifying the accuracy and consistency of citations and references.
  • Standardizing the bibliography according to the adopted standards.
  • Contributing to the quality and verifiability of the scientific output.
